Mark Cuban's advice to small business and teens
Billionaire investor and entrepreneur Mark Cuban believes that artificial intelligence (AI) presents an ideal opportunity for teenagers looking to earn extra income. In a recent interview with CNBC, Cuban outlined a straightforward three-step strategy for young people interested in diving into the world of AI.
Cuban's approach begins with mastering the art of writing prompts for AI language models. He suggests that teenagers can then teach their peers how to effectively use these prompts for school assignments. The final step involves extending these services to small and medium-sized enterprises that have yet to harness the power of AI. “Then, I would go to businesses, particularly small- to medium-sized businesses that don't understand AI yet. It doesn't matter if I'm 16; I'd be teaching them as well,” Cuban stated.
A report from LendingTree highlights that over half of Generation Z in the U.S. is currently engaged in side hustles, making AI prompt engineering—a skill that involves crafting queries to chatbots—a potentially lucrative avenue. According to ZipRecruiter, AI tutors can earn an average salary starting at around $30,000 annually, while full-time AI prompt engineers can command salaries as high as $129,500. Importantly, a college degree is not a prerequisite for becoming an AI prompt engineer….

More than 60% of CEOs are ‘digitally illiterate,’ according to their own employees
Since the launch of ChatGPT, major corporations have rushed to highlight their adoption of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. However, a significant number of employees are expressing frustration over what they perceive as their employers' "digital illiteracy," which they believe is hindering the productivity gains that AI promises.
Research conducted by Tech.io in 2023 revealed that two-thirds of business leaders have made minimal progress in integrating new AI technologies into their workplaces, primarily due to a lack of understanding regarding their benefits. Workers are now reporting that this reluctance is directly impacting their efficiency. A survey from STEM advisory group SThree found that employees are losing an average of six hours each week to manual tasks that could be easily automated with appropriate tools. The survey also indicated that 63% of employees believe their managers' reluctance to adopt AI tools stems from a lack of digital skills.
One Dutch construction worker voiced his concerns, stating that the “[lack of access to the latest AI tools] has caused a noticeable drop in my motivation to tackle new challenges at work.” Similarly, a Japanese engineer lamented, “I have to spend a significant amount of time on repetitive tasks that could be automated.”

AI startup Writer launches new model to compete with OpenAI
San Francisco-based artificial intelligence startup Writer has unveiled a new large language model aimed at competing with established players like OpenAI and Anthropic. The launch, which took place on Wednesday, highlights Writer's unique approach to AI development, particularly its cost-efficient training process.
Writer disclosed to CNBC that it invested approximately $700,000 to train its latest model, a stark contrast to the millions typically spent by its competitors. This innovative strategy has garnered significant interest from investors, with the company reportedly seeking to raise up to $200 million at a valuation of $1.9 billion. This valuation marks a dramatic increase from just $500 million in September 2023, when Writer secured $100 million in funding.
A key element of Writer's cost-saving strategy is its use of synthetic data—artificially generated information designed to replicate real-world data without compromising privacy. This method is gaining traction in the industry as companies face a looming shortage of publicly available training data. A recent study indicated that if current trends continue, tech firms could exhaust accessible training data between 2026 and 2032.…
