OpenAI plans to release "Strawberry " for ChatGPT in two weeks
In a significant development, OpenAI is reportedly planning to release its highly-anticipated "Strawberry" artificial intelligence model as part of its popular ChatGPT service within the next two weeks, according to a report by The Information.
Citing sources who have had hands-on experience with the model, The Information revealed that Strawberry boasts a unique ability to deliberate before responding to queries. Strawberry is designed to handle complex tasks that require deeper reasoning. It can reportedly solve math problems it has never encountered before and "thinks" about a question before answering.
Strawberry takes 10 to 20 seconds to process a query before responding. This deliberate pause is intended to automate a chain-of-thought prompting, potentially improving the accuracy of responses for complex or multi-step queries.
Strawberry will be integrated into ChatGPT but will function as a separate offering. Early access is expected to be granted to paying ChatGPT customers before becoming available to free-tier users….

Elon Musk's shiny new AI supercomputer
In a major milestone for his artificial intelligence startup xAI, Elon Musk has announced the successful launch of Colossus, a behemoth supercomputer boasting an unprecedented 100,000 Nvidia AI chips. This staggering number surpasses any single AI system on the planet.
But Musk's ambitions don't stop there. The billionaire entrepreneur revealed that Colossus is set to double in size within a few months, with plans to add an additional 100,000 AI chips, including 50,000 of Nvidia's latest H200 GPUs. These cutting-edge chips promise nearly twice the memory capacity and 40% more bandwidth than their predecessors.
The Colossus data center, built in Tennessee, was assembled in a record-breaking 122 days. To put this achievement into perspective, Meta's Llama 3 large language model was trained with a mere 16,000 H100 chips, while the tech giant has plans to expand its AI infrastructure with two 24,000-chip clusters.
However, not everyone is convinced that Colossus is a game-changer. LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman told The Information that the xAI supercomputer is merely "table stakes" in the competitive field of generative AI. Suggesting that it only allows xAI to catch up with more advanced companies like OpenAI and Anthropic….

Nvidia and the AI trade
For nearly 18 months, the stock market has been driven by the explosive growth of artificial intelligence, with a handful of large tech stocks, including Nvidia, leading the charge. However, a growing number of Wall Street strategists are now questioning whether this thesis will continue to propel the S&P 500 to new heights.
According to Citi's equity strategy team, led by Scott Chronert, Nvidia is becoming "just another Large Cap Growth stock," suggesting that its influence on the broader market may be waning. This sentiment was echoed by the market's muted reaction to Nvidia's recent earnings release, which saw the stock fall 6% but had little impact on the S&P 500.
In fact, since the start of the quarter on July 1, the S&P 500 has remained nearly flat, while Nvidia has lagged behind, down nearly 15%. The so-called "Magnificent Seven" tech stocks, which include Nvidia, have also underperformed the benchmark index, down more than 5%.
This cooling off of the AI-driven rally may mark the end of the first chapter in this bull market. While Nvidia's performance will continue to be closely watched, and influential. Recent market action suggests that investors are shifting their focus away from AI and towards macroeconomic developments, particularly the labor market's cooling trend….
