Walmart unveils new AI search tech for shoppers
Walmart has unveiled a new search technology called GenAI at the Consumer Electronics Show conference. This tool, developed by combining Microsoft's AI models with Walmart's shopper data, allows customers to search for products based on specific use cases rather than brand names or objects. For example, customers can search using terms such as "a football watch party" or "help me plan a unicorn-themed party for my daughter," and receive a curated list of products, instead of individually searching for items like chips, wings, and balloons. The feature is currently available to iOS users and will be rolled out to its website and Android app users later this year.
In addition to the GenAI search tool, Walmart is also developing a tool called "Walmart InHome Replenishment," which will help customers of its subscription-based InHome delivery program efficiently restock their online shopping carts with frequently purchased products.
Walmart has been experimenting with generative AI to enhance the shopping experience for its customers. This includes a shopping assistant that provides personalized product suggestions and an interior design feature that places items in a room based on the AI's suggestions. Users can express their opinions on which items they want to keep or buy, and the AI also asks for a budget so it can find items that are affordable….

Volkswagen has announced the integration of ChatGPT into its vehicles, making it the first volume manufacturer to offer this feature as a standard. The integration is enabled by Cerence Chat Pro and will be available in the latest generation of infotainment systems in models such as the ID.7, ID.4, ID.5, ID.3, Tiguan, Passat, and Golf.
The ChatGPT integration will allow drivers to control navigation, air conditioning, and infotainment systems via voice control. Additionally, it will enable the IDA voice assistant to answer general knowledge questions and provide more intuitive, back-and-forth language interactions. The system is designed to ensure a high level of data privacy, as it does not gain access to vehicle data, and questions and answers are deleted immediately.
The new ChatGPT feature is set to roll out as a standard feature in many Volkswagen production vehicles starting in the second quarter of 2024, initially in Europe. The feature is currently being considered for the US market and is going through the approval process….
